Won Hwa Kim, Ph.D.
Associate Professor
Brief Bio.
Dr. Won Hwa Kim is an Assistant Professor (2020 – 2022) Associate Professor (from March 2023) in Graduate School of Artificial Intelligence (GSAI) / Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) / Medical Science and Engineering (MED) at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). Prior to joining POSTECH, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington (2018 – 2023, last 2 years on leave-of-absence), and was a Researcher in Data Science Team at NEC Labs., America (2017-2018). He obtained his Ph.D in Computer Science from University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2017 thanks to great support from Prof. Vikas Singh (advisor). He got a M.S. in Robotics from KAIST (2010) and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Sungkyunkwan University (2008), and he developed Hybrid Vehicles at Hyundai Motors Company in 2010-2011. Brief Bio.
Ilwoo Lyu is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Engineering and Graduate School of Artificial Intelligence at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). Prior to joining POSTECH, he was an Assistant Professor of Comptuer Science and Engineering at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) and a Research Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Vanderbilt University. He earned his PhD in Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and MS/BS in Computer Science at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). His main research area intersects computer vision, machine learning, computer graphics, and medical image analysis. He is interested particularly in developing novel algorithms for 3D shape analysis based on computer vision and machine learning techniques to explore highly convoluted shapes. He has 60+ peer-reviewed publications and is highly collaborative with domestic and international co-investigators. Please see my website.
